Why Barberton Mines

Barberton Mines is one of South Africa’s most storied gold mining operations, combining a rich heritage with cutting-edge mining techniques and sustainable practices.

With a life of mine of approximately 23 years and mining rights valid until 2051, Barberton Mines remains a long-life asset with ongoing efficiency, sustainability and orebody-development initiatives.

Commitment to Renewable Energy

Barberton Mines operates a commissioned solar PV facility at Barberton, referenced in the Group’s renewable-energy roadmap as the 8.75MW Barberton solar PV plant and in the ESG update as an operating 9MW solar plant.

The Barberton solar PV facility has now been commissioned and forms part of the Group’s operating renewable-energy base, supporting lower energy costs and the broader decarbonisation roadmap.

Exceptional Gold Production & Operational Efficiency

For FY26, Barberton underground production is guided at 66,000oz-69,000oz. FY26H1 output included 20,977oz from Fairview, 3,884oz from Consort and 7,913oz from Sheba, with improved efficiencies at Fairview and Consort supporting the performance.

The updated FY26H1 cost profile shows Barberton underground AISC of US$2,590/oz, with Fairview at US$2,165/oz and Sheba and Consort improvement initiatives under way.

Financial Stability & Long-Term Growth

Barberton Mines is a cornerstone of Pan African Resources’ financial resilience, with prudent capital management ensuring long-term viability.

Our commitment to governance, transparency, and accountability strengthens investor confidence and supports continued growth, community development, and environmental responsibility. As we expand our operations, our focus remains on sustained value creation for all stakeholders.

Sustainable Agriculture & Community Upliftment

Beyond mining, Barberton Mines is committed to biodiversity conservation and community empowerment.

This project reflects our dedication to long-term environmental stewardship and socio-economic development.

FY26 Focused on Delivery

For FY26, Barberton Mines’ key focus areas are aligned with the Group’s delivery priorities: maintaining health and safety performance, achieving production and cost guidance, executing sustaining capital projects, and advancing ESG and renewable-energy initiatives.

Operational priorities include improving production flexibility at Fairview and Consort, progressing Sheba Fault as a medium- to long-term BTRP extension opportunity, continuing underground development and drilling programmes, and using infrastructure upgrades to sustain future production.

Barberton will also continue supporting the Group’s renewable-energy roadmap and community initiatives, including Barberton Blueberries, local skills development and supplier development.

Barberton Mines Complex

Fairview Mine

Fairview Mine, part of the Barberton Mines complex, has operated for over 130 years and remains the anchor of Barberton’s underground production profile. In FY26H1, Fairview produced 20,977oz, supported by high-grade ore from the MRC and Rossiter orebodies.

Recent improvements include completion of the 3 Shaft winder upgrade, resolution of electricity issues with back-up systems in place, ongoing trackless machinery ramp infrastructure from 38 to 70 Level, and a life of mine increased to approximately 23 years.

Sheba Mine

Sheba Mine is one of the world’s oldest operational gold mines, having commenced operations in 1885, and remains part of Barberton’s long-life underground portfolio.

In FY26H1, Sheba produced 7,913oz, down 10% year on year, as lower-grade ore feed from the Western Cross development and Zwartkoppie constraints impacted output. Additional working platforms are planned to improve ore blending, with exploration and development continuing to increase mining flexibility.

Consort Mine

Consort Mine continues to contribute to Barberton’s underground portfolio, with gold production increasing 20% to 3,884oz in FY26H1. PC Shaft rehabilitation has been completed, giving access to higher-grade areas below 30 Level, while mining has commenced at MMR Shaft 17 Level and PC Shaft 33 Level.

Deeper raise development and equipping are also increasing ROM tonnage, and Consort remains consistently cash generative for the Group.
